Situated at the base of one of the world's biggest rock formations, and the spectacular Mount Augustus National Park, Mount Augustus Tourist Park provides an idyllic base for exploring the surrounding countryside as well as wildlife and flowers, picturesque sunsets and starlit night skies.
Mount Augustus, or Burringurrah, is one of the most spectacular solitary peaks, it rises above a stony, red sandplain of arid shrubland and is visible from the air for more than 160 kilometres. The granite formation is about eight kilometres long, covers an area of 4,795 hectares and is estimated to be 1,750 million years old.
In the solitude of this vast brooding silence, you will experience the very best of Mount Augustus and the West Australian outback.
A small range of supplies, water and souvenirs are available at our shop. We also have a tavern licence so your evenings can be enjoyed watching the spectacular sunset over the mount with a nice bottle.
There are no mechanical repair services available, so make sure you have enough tools and spares in case of a breakdown. Fuel and gas bottle refills are available.
Take a scenic self-drive loop around the base of Mount Augustus and explore the mysterious and ancient rock formation and Aboriginal art sites while watching the changing light on the rock.
Pets welcome, but must be kept under control for the enjoyment of all guests.
